In these trying times, mental health has rightfully claimed its place at the forefront of our collective concerns.  With October designated as Mental Health Month, it serves as a poignant reminder of the imperative to prioritise the mental well-being of individuals across all walks of life, including those in the construction industry.

Payapps is committed to making a difference in the construction industry and this initiative is no exception.  In Brisbane and Melbourne, Payapps recently organised enlightening roundtables that brought together leaders and professionals in the construction industry.  The focus of these gatherings?  Resilience in Construction.   For every professional who joined us for lunch during our roundtable discussions, Payapps pledged to donate $50.00 to Mates in Construction.  This remarkable organisation is dedicated to raising awareness, building capacity, providing help, and conducting essential research to combat the issue of suicide within the construction industry.

Our Chief Revenue Officer, Brett Stephenson, emphasised the significance of this initiative, stating,

At Payapps, we believe in the power of community and the strength that comes from supporting one another.  Mental health matters and we proudly stand with Mates in Construction in their mission to create a safer, more resilient construction industry.

Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of attendees, Payapps donated a total of $2050 to Mates in Construction!  These funds will be instrumental in supporting Mates in Construction’s vital programs and improving mental health in the construction sector.

To put these donations into perspective, here’s how your contribution can make a difference:

  •  $50: Supports training materials for 3 Connectors who will serve as the contact persons on construction sites, providing crucial support.
  • $100: Supports 1 hour of case management by MATES social workers, assisting several individuals or providing extended support to one person in need.
  • $1,000: Supports 2 trainers for a day of training, facilitating General Awareness and Connector sessions, potentially educating hundreds of workers about the issue of suicide in our industry.
  • $2,000: Supports 2 trainers to present an ASIST course, enabling 30 people to become ASIST trained, equipped to create a safe plan for a struggling colleague in their workplaces.

As we recognise Mental Health Month, let’s remember that our actions can have a profound impact on the lives of others.  By supporting Mates in Construction and their tireless efforts to promote mental well-being in the construction industry, we are contributing to a safer, more resilient, and compassionate construction community.

Payapps remains dedicated to making a positive difference, and we invite all industry professionals to join us in our commitment to building resilience in construction and supporting mental health.  Together, we can create a stronger and more compassionate industry for all.
